Mourning and Celebrating with the Weavers & Mathesons

It's been almost two months now since Grandpa Weaver passed away--it happened something like six days after that fishing trip. It was sad of course to see him go, but the nice thing about funerals is how it brings the living together. Grandpa Weaver's passing became a great excuse to have a several-days-long celebration with the family!

Grandpa Lee & Luke hanging out at the funeral

L to R: Great-Grandpa Matheson, Aunt Jess & Simon, Mom & Luke, and
Uncle Will & Dad making faces at the babies

All of the Lee & Julie Matheson crowd! (Plus some bonus Mathesons on
the side!)

The Weavers have a knack for making even the most informal gathering feel festive, and it sure felt like a big family reunion party hanging out at Grandpa Weaver's house.

Haven & Luke partying with Aunt Rachel

Luke trying to fit in with all of the big kids!

There's irony in the fact that his shirt says "No Girls
Allowed (Except Mommy)."

Not so sure about this...

Again with the irony.

Luke and Simon, just being little buddies. (Sometimes it's hard to get a good shot of both of these kiddos...)

The SECOND infamous licking-the-head picture! This time Luke's
bald noggin was the victim.

Somebody partied a little too hard.

Snuggling with Grandma Julie

Happy boy!

And of course just a couple of indulgent cute baby photos:

Always the blurry limbs.

That same week, I believe, a bunch of us were lucky enough to go see Great-Grandpa Matheson at his house for a quick visit. Grandpa Matheson is 97 years old and still lives basically on his own in his own home. Nothing quite like pilgrim stock!

L-R: Aunt Juliann (and little tiny Maisie!), Grandpa Matheson, Uncle Ross, Mom & Luke, Dad, Grandpa Lee, &
Uncle Matt. What a good looking crowd!

And finally, while I'm thinking about it, I don't remember if I've posted these pictures yet or not. We took them less than a month before the one above (but look how much tinier the little monkey is!) on a different visit to Grandpa Matheson. Grandpa was so happy to see the little guy!

We're so blessed to have such a great family. Can't wait to see all of you guys whenever our paths cross next!
