Tummy Time

Still fussing like a champ, especially when he farts himself awake (which is often). Since he's still working on controlling those floppy things attached to his shoulders, he's usually much happier in his straight jacket (a.k.a. once we've swaddled the bejeebers out of him).

Burrito baby

Know what it makes me think of? Remember this?

Bowling pin baby! All you see is his head and a blanket. So cute.

We've discovered that if he's not too upset already, he's actually a big fan of tummy time. Sometimes he'll put a bit of effort into lifting up his head, but usually he's content to just hang out & look around.

Trying to hold up the bobblehead!...nah, too much work.

Sometimes he gives us this look like, "Wait, what happened? Why is everything sideways?"

He's so little!

We have to keep an eye on him--sometimes he gets too comfy & decides it's naptime a la tummies.

Twice as Blessed

Little Luke is lucky to have an awesome older cousin to show him the ropes:

Handsome Simon in his blessing duds

Since Simon and Luke are only about 6 weeks apart, Simon's mom and dad were gracious enough to share his blessing day with us. The two little boys got twice the party, and we got to have so many friends and family members come celebrate with us.

Luke is on top, Simon is on bottom

Luke was spoiled rotten by all of the attention, of course.

Just hangin' out with Great Grandpa Weaver

Grandpas have such snuggly hands.

Hooray! More uncles (cousins? second cousins??) to play with! Thanks for coming, Bergholms!

Grandpa Jeffs, Dad, and Uncle Will

Our little family picture!

Luke was a good sport for the event. He was awake for the blessing but didn't make a peep--maybe he was listening. He got pretty sleepy towards the end of the day, though.

Hunkering down with dad

We wanted to take some pictures of Luke and Simon together, but by the time the ruckus had died down and we could pry the two of them away from their adoring public, Luke had just about had enough and was ready for dinner and bedtime.

Cheerful for a minute...
...but he quickly got impatient and confused Simon's head for a giant boob. Yes, we are going to post this picture at his high school graduation.

Such sweet boys!

Fussbucket

Someone kidnapped my sweet, sleepy baby with perfect skin and a huge appetite and replaced him with this fussy monkey.

Stink eye.
Poor baby's face broke out this week and his head is looking a bit cradle-cappy. We've been playing the eat-for-5-minutes, pull-off-&-refuse-to-finish, then scream-that-we're-starving-an-hour-later game for the last couple of days, too. And his latest trick is to bawl every time he poops or farts, which is several times an hour when he's gassy (meaning he only sleeps for a few minutes at a time for a good part of the day or night).

Settling down for a minute with dad.
Equipment needed for the most successful nap today: 1 straightjacket (a.k.a. swaddling blanket),  1 binky to repeatedly spit out, 1 giraffe white-noise machine cranked up all the way, 1 swing, and 2 16-oz cans to slow down the swing to the speed the howler monkey likes.

We have discovered, though, that the monkey loves bathtime. Even if he's screaming himself purple, he settles right down as soon as his tushie hits the water. We've been pretty successful mess-wise so far: The whale towel took quite the pooping-on, and he peed all over his hippo towel today (you'd think mom would learn her lesson and diaper the kid faster!), but no in-the-bath blowouts yet.

A little dazed and confused at first...

...but happy as a clam once he's good and wet! (Sorry, the camera got steamed...er, it's got a modesty filter.)

Screaming his face off again as soon as he got out. Silly boy.

Of course, to be fair, I should also mention that the few times when he's awake and deciding to be charming, he's working on an awfully cute smile.

Working up to it...

I guess we'll keep him around after all.

"More food please, Mom!"
