Final Stops on the Whirlwind Utah Tour

Just in case we didn't have enough to do the week before we moved, we grabbed up a half-off discount on some tourist passes that get you in free to a lot of the fun stuff around Salt Lake. We spent a few solid days scrambling to make some quick last visits to our favorite places and see some new things we hadn't visited yet.

We went to the children's museum (Discovery Gateway)...

Luke was too little to appreciate it, but I sure had fun!

...we picked up Uncle Danny at EFY and then went for ice cream...

Playing in the grass, waiting for Danny

Luke was, of course, slobbering all over himself. Can you blame him
though? That ice cream is good stuff!

Because I am a terrible mother, I gave him a couple of drops of ice
cream from our flavors on my finger. Luke LOVES ice cream!

...and we went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point!

Watch out, Luke boy! There's big scary dinosaurs!

Mom, Luke, and some compsognathuses (...compsognathi?).

Seeing if he can sit up with some help from Uncle Matthew.

Hello!

Luke LOVES dinosaurs!

Just goin' for a little walk.

"Take the baby! TAKE THE BABY!!"

Check out those great mugs.

We also got to have an adventure that I'd never tried before. During a few months in the summer, the Snowbird ski resort runs one of its trams up the mountain just for the views. You can even walk around up in the snow (yes, snow! On June 26th!) at the top of the lift.

The BEAUTIFUL view from the ride

Just admiring the scenery.

So much snow! Granted, it had been a cold spring, but still...

Luke LOVES the tram!

Luke gets a hat whenever there's a hint of sun so
that his dear little bald head doesn't get burned.

At the summit!

Running around at the top of the peak. I guess we didn't really think it
through, because we were both wearing flip flops...

Such a happy little boy!

Luke busted out his shades, too.  Someone was way too cool for
the camera.

11,000 feet!

And of course, no Utah tour would be complete without some time at Grandma & Grandpa Laurie & Rick's house. Little Luke got to relax and hang out with the big boys.

Sometimes I forget that he's still such a tiny little guy!

Luke LOVES tummy time!

Rockin' out to Guitar Hero!

Chatting with Uncle Kevin

Luke also spent a good part of the week discovering his feet.

"Wait, what is this? Oh, a foot? How delicious!"

Luke LOVES his feet!

Luke is such a trooper in the car. He sleeps a lot of the time, and even when he's awake, he'll talk to himself or watch out the window or stare at his polka-dotted cover . . . until he gets hungry. Then he knows exactly what he wants.

"Mom! Mom! In here! Put the food in here!"

Holding on tight.

Zonked out again.

We also got to make one last stop at the Weaver's the night before our flight. Luke got some great snuggle time in with Simon and his other friends!

Luke LOVES Uncle Will!

Luke LOVES Aunt Jess!

Such great buddies!

Kind of an exhausting way to get ready for a move, but we sure had fun!

[Great][Grand]Father's Day

So let's back it up a little: Flashback a couple of months to Father's Day. We were super lucky because all the Jeffs family folks decided to have a little schindig at Grandma & Grandpa Jeffs' house in Orem. My family has get-togethers there all the time, but this one kind of felt like coming full-circle for us since our first home after Scott & I were married was the basement apartment my grandparents have downstairs. It was a good chance to pass the baby around and a fun way to say "So long for now!" to the Utah families & places that we won't get to see for a while.

Chatting with Aunt Laura

Grandmas know how to snuggle best.

Mom & the boy

Woke up crabby from his nap, but decided to be cheerful once he saw
his adoring public.

Takin' it easy with Uncle Danny & Julia

Great-Grandma Darnell & Great-Grandpa Dean. Couldn't ask for a
better picture!

Grandpa Rick & Grandma Laurie are way too much fun.

Playtime with the boy. Love those doggie butt pants.

Thanks, everyone! We had the perfect first Father's Day with the small fry!

Family Photos, June 2011

So this is really going to jumble things up: I've been trying to work from the back of my backlog and post in chronological order, but we just got this photo CD in the mail and I can't wait to post a few of the pictures. Right before we moved (literally the day before we flew to St. Louis), a friend of mine from high school spoiled us with a fun little photo shoot. She's back from a mission and working on building up her portfolio again. If you're in northern Utah and looking for a photographer, definitely look her up! Didn't she do a great job?

Kristie was fun and easygoing, and so great with Luke. He was a pretty good little trooper and gave us a few really adorable shots. We'll have to take some more once he's a little less wobbly, too! (You can click on any of the photos for a big, detailed version.)

We decided this one's going over the mantle (for real).
